About the Maker

 

Howdy, I’m Shauna Howard. I’m originally from San Diego, CA, but made my way to the Central Coast to study fine arts at Cal Poly.

I spent most of my life as a painter by training, but after some serious artist burnout and life changes, I pivoted and worked my way up in the automotive industry (another passion of mine) and spent a decade working as an automotive TIG welder from body shops, to off-road race builds, to custom high end vans, to hot rods and everything in between. Somewhere along the way, I realized that making things with my hands was still very much a part of who I am.

These days, I’ve found my way back to art through leatherwork and silversmithing. It’s a combination that feels like a perfect fit, allowing me to bring together both my creative and technical sides.

I love working with raw and quality materials, figuring out how things come together, and creating pieces that are meant to be used, worn, and enjoyed for years to come.

Every piece is made by my own two calloused hands, with a whole lot of care, craftsmanship, and a little bit of grit.

 

The Story Behind Wild Pintos Co.

I consider myself one of the lucky ones—not only for the life I get to share with my husband and our little slice of heaven and the love that surrounds me, but for the two Pinto horses who have filled it with so much adventure, joy, and memories.

Mini and Luna are the heart behind Wild Pintos Co.

Mini, my retired black-and-white Paint, was the one who first made me fall in love with the breed. With her wild spirit, love for adventure, and a little bit of sass, she taught me to embrace the unpredictable and find the best stories somewhere down the trail.

Luna came along years later and quickly found her own place in my heart—sweet, spirited, and every bit as special in her own way.

The name Wild Pintos Co. is a little nod to them and the life they’ve inspired me to live: one filled with horses, adventure, handmade things, and a whole lot of wild at heart.
